Shadoobee
Shattered, shattered
I’ve been doing some one-shot DMing. For my Recovery (non D&D) friends a one-shot is a game, one night, you roll up a character for the night, minimal narrative no character development. Usually pretty combat heavy. “A tall handsome weirdo walks into a bar and offers you a job. Provide security at a certain crossroads around midnight. Bring guitars”
Nothing suspicious and life-threatening about that. What could go wrong?
We all know it’s going to go south quickly and there’ll be demons and devils and cops, fists, dirt and shit flying everywhere. But you wade in because you’re an adventurer, it’s in your DNA, you can’t say no. Sound familiar Recovery friends? Imagine having the weapons and the spells and skills to face down your demon… Imagine walking out the other side with your demon’s True Name, having him on a choke chain. But it’s a one-shot. A training exercise. You’re reading too much into it.
I saw Magal Silentweaver the other day. I was driving my daughter somewhere on the weekend and he was walking past. I wound down the window and yelled out. He looked like he was up to no good, as he always does, Gnomish Artificers always look that way. It was good to call out to friend. Introduce Magal to my daughter as a friend.
Anyway. I saw video of Eddie Vedder doing a solo show and he gets Jeanne Tripplehorn up to do a cover of The Rolling Stones Shattered as Julie Andrews. It’s delightful.
I love it so much because it pinpricks the cool of the bright lights and rock and roll. Mary Poppins vs Keef and Mick. I know which party I’m going to.
And who writes a lyric like Shadoobee anyway.
